News for Cheshire

News for Cheshire is the blog of the campaign to get the BBC news website to provide dedicated news coverage of our county, which it doesn't do. Currently, users of the BBC's news website have to hunt on the pages for Merseyside, Manchester and Staffordshire if they want Cheshire news. Other contributors are welcome, just get in touch if you'd like to write for the campaign.

Keep 'em coming

It's been a record week for Aunty - we're starting to lose count of the news from Cheshire that the Beeb is currently publishing.

Cheshire cops are targeting traffickers in the sex industry.

A Runcorn church collapsed after going ablaze.

And a Cheshire man has been charged with drug offences.

Of course, after this unprecedented flurry of reportage, it may well go quiet for another month now. But it would be nice to think the BBC is turning over a new leaf here.

Not only that, but last night's BBC TV programming saw a whole hour of BBC2 dedicated to Crewe's Limelight Club and a further hour on BBC4 of live music from the club. This time, they might just have found Cheshire!

We saw that in the Radio Times - I was keen to watch it but missed it unfortunately. I'm afraid I always get over-excited when ever Cheshire gets featured by the BBC because it is so rare!
